What your certificate is audited against today

Your certificate. A certificate to ISO 9001:2015 stays valid until the transition ends, so publication on its own moves nobody. ISO withdrew ISO 9001:2015 and its Amd 1:2024 when it published ISO 9001:2026, and that does not end your certificate. The dates below are what move you, and the baseline they are assessed against is ISO 9001:2015, including Amd 1:2024.

Transition deadline

September 30, 2029

Global ACI, which the IAF and ILAC merged into on 1 January 2026, has published the transition requirements for ISO 9001:2026, and they set the dates below. The last one is the one that matters to a certified organization: after 30 September 2029 a certificate to ISO 9001:2015 is no longer valid. You move at a surveillance audit, a recertification audit or a separate transition audit, so for most organizations this is a normal visit with a wider scope rather than an extra event.

The published dates

• March 31, 2027Accreditation bodies are to be ready to assess against the new edition.
• June 30, 2027Certification bodies, meaning your registrar, submit their transition declarations.
• March 31, 2028New and initial accredited certificates are issued to ISO 9001:2026 only.
• September 30, 2029The transition ends. Certificates to ISO 9001:2015 are no longer valid after this date.
